Back in the Water

Quest giver Sisipu in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks

Summary and analysis

SummaryAnalysis

The Calamity (a great disaster) hit the fishing trade, but fisherfolk are returning to sea, and Sisipu wants to as well. Her guild always orders boats from Naldiq & Vymelli's, now very busy, so she sends you to ask H'naanza about the wait.

Sisipu's boat must wait: the shipyard is busy with the warship Victory (MSQ #13).

After the CalamityTrade and the city

What happens, step by step

  1. Sisipu of the Fishermen's Guild wants to order a new fishing boat.
  2. Keen to take to the seas once more, Sisipu expresses her desire to have a new fishing boat built. She bids you consult with Forgemaster H'naanza of the Armorers' Guild in her stead regarding how long the commission might take.
  3. H'naanza regretfully informs you that Naldiq & Vymelli's is presently occupied with a large commission. Nonetheless, the forgemaster promises to do what she can in honor of the long-standing relationship between their two guilds.
Where it leads

Next in the play order: Licensed to Reave. Mordyn offers you paid work with the crew and sends you up the steps to the balcony to meet Carvallain, their captain.

Worth knowing

Lore

H'naanza is more than a busy forgemaster. This famous shipbuilder designed the Triumph, the flagship of Limsa's Crimson Fleet. That is very impressive at thirty-eight.

Lore

Naldiq & Vymelli's was founded by a blacksmith, Naldiq, and a shipbuilder, Vymelli. It became famous for building some of the greatest ships the world has seen.

Easter egg

H'naanza's name and background make her a Seeker of the Sun. But look closely. The game gives her the character model of the other Miqo'te clan, the Keepers of the Moon.

Easter egg

Fisherman's Bottom is home to the Fishermen's Guild. It is named for its place at the lowest point in the city. But really, it should be known for the guild.

In-game text

The Encyclopaedia Eorzea says the armorers were good at shaping metal plates. This skill also brought in sailors. They wanted to make their ships' hulls stronger with steel.

Characters

Who they are, and what they do in this quest.

Sisipu

Sisipu of the Fishermen's Guild wants a new fishing boat built, so she can go back to sea.

The Calamity (a great disaster) hit the fishing trade, but fisherfolk are returning to sea, and Sisipu wants to as well. Her guild always orders boats from Naldiq & Vymelli's, now very busy, so she sends you to ask H'naanza about the wait.

H'naanza

H'naanza is Forgemaster of the Armorers' Guild. Sisipu wants to know from her how long a new boat might take.

H'naanza's workshop, Naldiq & Vymelli's, is busy building a galleon (a large ship). Still, the Fishermen's Guild is an old, valued client, so she promises to do her best for Sisipu. She is a famous shipbuilder who designed the Triumph, flagship of Limsa's Crimson Fleet.

Other languages

The game was written in Japanese and rewritten, not just translated, for each language. Here is what the other versions say, next to the English.

FrenchLa pêche aux bateaux

GermanBootskauf
‘Boat purchase’
English, Sisipu

But before I can put out to sea again, I need to have a new boat built. Our guild has always commissioned Naldiq & Vymelli's for its crafts, but they are beastly busy these days.

French

Je dois dire que cela me réjouit beaucoup, mais de ce fait, nous manquons de bateaux de pêche.

‘I must say that makes me very happy, but because of it, we lack fishing boats.’

Sisipu orders boats for the returning fishermen. The English Sisipu wants one, for herself.

German

‘But for that you simply need fishing boats, don't you?’

Japanese

でも、漁に出るには漁船が必要でしょ?

English: she needs a new boat to put out to sea again; German: one simply needs fishing boats for that.

English: she needs a new boat to put out to sea again; Japanese: going out fishing needs fishing boats.

English, Sisipu

If you want for something to do, mayhap you could run over to the Armorers' Guild and consult with Forgemaster H'naanza in my stead. I would know how long we might expect to have to wait.

German

Würdest du mal kurz bei der Plattnergilde auf den Oberen Decks vorbeischauen und bei H'naanza die Boote bestellen? Sie leitet die Schiffsbaufirma.

‘Could you drop by the Armorers' Guild on the Upper Decks and order the boats from H'naanza? She heads the shipbuilding firm.’

Here too, Sisipu wants several boats. In English, H'naanza is a Forgemaster, not the head of a shipyard.

Sisipu

The Calamity really knocked the wind out the fishing industry's sails, but fisherfolk are starting to return to the seas once more. It's past time I did the same.

Speak with H'naanza at the Armorers' Guild.

H'naanza

A new boat for the Fishermen's Guild? I'm afraid now isn't the best time...

H'naanza

You see, we have recently taken on a commission for a galleon. This task alone has all our hands full.

H'naanza

But look, I will see what I can do. The Fishermen's Guild has long been one of our best clients, and I would be loath to disappoint Sisipu. It may yet take a while, but I shall endeavor to have her boat ready in a timely fashion.
