The sentry you ask for directions has not eaten since his shift began. He is so hungry that he daydreams about the lamb before he answers.
The starving sentry Abylfarr ('Rage Bull' in Roegadyn) is also the Bulwark Hall guard from MSQ #0. That guard sends newcomers who are not registered back to the Crow's Lift.
The item text for Fresh Lamb praises it in a very blunt way: 'Lamb meat so fresh it still smells of the mother's teat.'
The Encyclopaedia Eorzea has an entry on the Culinarians' Guild. It says that many men have crossed the seas just to eat at its restaurant.
The title plays on 'sheepish', which means embarrassed. The request really is about lamb, the meat of young sheep. And H'lahono admits her cooking was not good enough for her to stay a chef.

Abylfarr is a sentry (guard) stationed in Bulwark Hall, just below the Drowning Wench.
Abylfarr has not eaten since his shift began and daydreams about grilled lamb. He sends you through the Zephyr Gate to the lambs. His name means 'Rage Bull' in the Roegadyn tongue; he is also the Bulwark Hall guard who turns back unregistered newcomers.

'Tis times like this I feel fulfilled in my role. I used to be a chef myself, you see, but my skills weren't quite up to par. So when the Bismarck expanded operations, I asked to be made its provisioner instead. This way, I can still be part of the business in spite of my shortcomings.
