What happens, step by step

  1. Ancreta, sentry at the Eyes, solicits assistance.
  2. Ancreta's grandfather, head of the Red Rooster Stead, has charged her with the procurement of three livers from the rivertoads indigenous to the Eyes. Alas, the squeamish sentry is sickened by the mere thought of handling the livers, and requests that you obtain them in her stead.
  3. You have obtained the requested amount of rivertoad livers. Show them to Ancreta at the Eyes.
  4. Unable to leave her post and loath to handle the livers, Ancreta tasks you with delivering them to her grandfather Anaoc at the Red Rooster Stead.
  5. The livers give Anaoc's fertilizer more potency...or so you are told. Adopting advanced agricultural techniques has served the farm well to date, and promises a prosperous future to come.
Where it leads

Next in the play order: Wool's Errand. Anaoc grumbles that the courier who usually takes the wool is lazing in bed.

Key lines explained

The lines worth a second look, in the order you hear them, and what each one means.

Deliver the rivertoad livers to Anaoc at the Red Rooster Stead

AnaocI heard that the New Worlders use fish livers as fertilizer, and so I thought I would give toad livers a try.
Easter egg

Anaoc's fertilizer tip echoes the real New World. There, Squanto taught the Plymouth settlers to plant their corn with fish. Anaoc uses toad livers instead.

Remember this

Listen for a quick, passing mention of the 'New Worlders'. They come from a far land across the sea. For a long time, the game names that land only in passing. Remember it.

Title reference

The title is a pun on 'Cry Me a River', the sad 1953 love song made famous by Julie London. It swaps the river for the toad livers you fetch.
